The key founder of Apelby Communications Group with over 20 years of experience in telecommunications business. Michal built Apelby brand from the scratch and found the right people to help the company growth providing them all his know-how and experience to ensure the proper training. Having reliable staff (more than 50 people) in the whole company, Michal is now the key decision maker in terms of global sales and technology strategies and managing the whole group of companies belonging to Apelby Communications Group.
Michal started his telecom journey back in 1998. He held various managerial positions in Telefonica O2(previously Czech Telecom), where he, for example, participated in an international expansion project. He also had a chance to gain experience in a technology company NVision (former Sitronics) being responsible for sales and creating distribution channels for OSS/BSS and telecommunications solutions in Central Europe and Balkan.

Chief Executive Officer

Emil started his journey with Apelby from the beginning as its Board Member, helping Michal to build the Product and Marketing Strategy and Managing the German Headquarters. He provided consultancy and guidance during the whole company existence and took the position of Chief Strategy officer in 2018. He was  responsible for regional sales management, product and marketing strategy supporting business development activities. Emil was appointed as CEO of Apelby Communications in February 2021.


Emil gained his telecom experience in IDT Corporation where he started in 2003 as a Managing Director of CEE branch operations in Prague with full P&L management responsibility. He developed successful businesses for IDT Global in Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and other European countries. In terms of marketing experience, Emil provided consultancy in Vodafone by creating a new media channel on the Czech market and played a key role in POS Media Group for more than 10 years as its Country Manager and later also as the Chief Operations Officer.

Michael joined Apelby while finishing his university degree in 2009, therefore he got proper training and all the experience on Apelby soil. As an Account manager, he started handling existing accounts and building the first relationships with telecom companies. After 3 years of gaining detailed knowledge of systems, routing and destinations, he also became the Destination Manager and played the key role in the decision-making process of routing in order to ensure only high quality termination for the clients. He also brought a working swap model and many other features that helped Apelby to grow. Thanks to the expertise he gained in sales and routing, he was promoted to the Head of Commercial routing and later on to Sales Operations Director. As part of the new role, Michael started to lead the team responsible for routing, pricing, business support and reporting. During this period, he helped to implement several internal tools and new routing products that significantly increased competitiveness of Apelby and created opportunities for cooperation with new valuable partners. Under his leadership, Apelby also successfuly moved the business to the new OSS/BSS system in 2022. In January 2023, Michael was appointed as COO and is leading all the operations within the company, remaining responsible for successful implementation of new products and services.

Group Chief Financial Officer

Jan joined Apelby Group as a new fresh force in 2018 having more than 20 years’ experience, from Finance and controlling area in corporations. Jan is responsible for long-term, medium-term financial planning and annual budgeting within Apelby Group in order to achieve company’s economical and financial objectives. His responsibilities also entail cost control & optimization, risk management, cash flow management and funding and various financial analysis.

Starting as a Finance Manager in Hilton, Jan was managing a team of Accounting and Back Office, being responsible for reporting, treasury & financing, budget & long term plan, credit management and cost management. After 4 years he moved to Total, starting as Finance and Manager and then moved to the HR, Admin & Purchasing Manager. After another 12 years’ experience, he took the opportunity to lead the Finance Operations of CEZ in Romania as its Group CFO being Member of Management board of CEZ Romania and CEZ Vanzare with 80 direct and indirect reports. His position included mainly Financial planning, annual budgeting, risk management, cash flow management and funding.
